For The First Time In UP, Polling Stations To Be In High-rise Buildings And Gated Colonies
Lucknow, March 18 (TNA) For the first time in electoral history of the state, the Election Commission of India (ECI) will set up polling stations for the Lok Sabha elections 2024 inside high-rise buildings and gated colonies in Uttar Pradesh. Uttar Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Navdeep Rinwa told media persons that, polling centers will be set up inside high-rise apartment complexes and gated colonies in the state.
“We have identified 217 such apartment complexes and colonies. These include 68 in Dadri, 68 in Noida There are 67, 37 in Sahibabad, 8 in Muradnagar and seven each in Loni, Ghaziabad and Bakshi-ka-Talab,” the CEO said and added that approximately 82 thousand polling stations will have the facility of CCTV cameras.
All polling stations will be built on the ground floor only. Arrangements have been made for wheelchairs, ramps for disabled voters, toilets, adequate lighting, drinking water and help desks for the convenience of voters. He said, "We have tried to ensure that any voter has two facilities to cast his vote. Don't have to travel more than a kilometer."
