Former IPS And BJP Candidate Asim Arun Wins Kannauj Sadar Seat

Kannauj, March 10 (TNA) Former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Asim Arun has won the state assembly election from the Kannauj Sadar seat in Uttar Pradesh. The former cop who last served as the police commissioner of Kanpur took voluntary retirement before taking the political path.

He was rated as one of the finest officers in the UP cadre and his father late Sri Ram Arun served as the DGP of the state. He polled 1.20 lakh votes and defeated his nearest Samajwadi Party (SP) candidate Anil Kumar Doharey who got 1.14 lakh off votes. Arun polled 44.53 per cent votes.
