Former UP Minister Ashutosh Tandon Passes Away, Yogi Mourns His Demise

Lucknow, November 9 (TNA) Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday evening paid an emotional tribute to the mortal remains of his former cabinet colleague Ashutosh Tandon aka Gopal ji. The BJP leader passed away this morning at a medical facility in the state capital after a long battle with lung cancer. He was 63.

The saffron-robed chief minister drove straight to the residence of the late leader in Sondhi Tola, Chowk after returning to Lucknow from Ayodhya where he had presided over a cabinet meeting, and paid his last respects. He was accompanied by his ministerial colleagues including deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak.

Tandon was the incumbent legislator from Lucknow (East) and had held urban development portfolio in the first tenure of the Yogi government. He was the son of late party veteran Lalji Tandon. His body was cremated in presence of hsi supporters, relatives and family members at Gulala Ghat late evening.
