Four Cattle Smugglers Arrested In Azamgarh After Encounter With Police
Azamgarh, February 23 (TNA) The Police have arrested four cattle smugglers in an encounter in UP's Azamgarh district. However, six other accused managed to escape. Thirteen cattle have been recovered from the possession of the arrested cattle smugglers. Police raids are on to arrest the absconding accused.
This gang of animal smugglers used to first recce with Scorpio during the day after which they would pick up the cattle at night. ASP City Shailendra Lal informed that many cases of animal theft were reported in Mubarakpur and surrounding areas. The police department was looking for cattle thieves.
Mubarakpur police and SWAT team were present near Bamhor underpass on Tuesday night when information was received from an informer that stolen cattle were kept near Bamhaur Purana Pul whom the thieves are preparing to take somewhere from the pickup point.
On information, the police team reached the spot. On seeing the police, the cattle thieves opened fire. While the police caught four cattle thieves by laying siege, six others escaped from the spot. The arrested accused include Arshad, Rakesh, Javed and Surendra.
During interrogation, they named the absconding accused as Waqib, Shahzade, Mohd. Told Akil, Hasim, Shakeel and Meraj. Police recovered 13 cattle, one Scorpio, one picup, pistol and cartridges as well as four mobiles and Rs 4400 cash from the spot.
