Ganga In Spate In Varanasi, Water Enters The Kashi Vishwanath Corridor

Varanasi, August 29 (TNA) The raging Ganges in the temple town of Varanasi, entered the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Corridor on Sunday evening. The entire ramp is submerged in water after the in-spate Ganges entered the Dham via Jalasena Path. On the other hand, Ganga has completely submerged Assi Ghat. Boats are plying on the road from Assi to Nagwan.

The water level of Ganga has risen 61 cm from the danger mark of 71.26 meters to 71.87 meters. The speed of the rise of the water levels in the Ganges remains at one centimeter per hour. Relief and rescue work has been intensified by the district administration.

There is chaos in Samanghat area. 19 flood relief camps have been set up in the city. In this, 3432 flood victims of 661 families have been given shelter. 58 boats have been deployed for relief and rescue. A total of 20 wards, 99 gram sabhas including 119 gram sabhas and 15318 people of the ward have been affected by the floods. 19 relief posts have been established, a district official informed TNA.
