Geology Students From AMU Qualify UPSC Exams
Aligarh, March 23 (TNA) Twenty students from the Department of Geology, Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) have brought laurels to the department by qualifying competitive examinations conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), Government of India.
According to Prof Kr. Farahim Khan, Chairperson of the Department, 9 students from the Department of Geology have been selected for the posts of ‘Geologist’ and ‘Hydrogeologist’ by qualifying the Preliminary and Mains examinations followed by the Personality Test of Combined Geo‐Scientist Examination, 2023 conducted by UPSC.
The students who qualified for the post of Geologist include Noman Zaman Khan (AIR 14), Hilal Ali (AIR 78), Mohammad Saqib (AIR 116), Mohd Gulam Navi (AIR 145), Anas Ahamad (AIR 154), and Shah Husain (AIR 189), whereas Aaisha Naz (AIR 8), Mohd Tahir Khan (AIR 17) and Mohammad Aatif Raza (AIR 20) qualified for the post of Hydrogeologist.
Similarly, 7 students including Mohammad Saqib (AIR 4), Razuddin (AIR 31), Mohd Rashid (AIR 35), Tariq Ejaz (AIR 38), Mohd Siddique Akbar (AIR 44), Rahil Usmani (AIR 46), and Affan Ahamad (AIR 48) have been selected for the post of ‘Assistant Hydrogeologist’in Central Ground Water Board, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India.
Saima Rahman has been selected for the post of Assistant Mining Geologist (out of a total 6 selections on an all-India basis) in the Indian Bureau of Mines, Ministry of Mines through the UPSC examination.
Besides this, 3 research scholars of the Department of Geology including Mohammad Salman, Rahil Usmani and Affan Ahamad have been selected for the post of Junior Mining Geologist (out of total 7 selections on an all-India basis) in the Indian Bureau of Mines, Ministry of Mines. Khan congratulated the selected students affirming that the success of the students is a testimony of their hard work, dedication and guidance offered by the faculty members.
