Gold Worth Rs 99 Lakh Being Smuggled From Dubai Inside A Metal Horse Artefact Caught At Lucknow Airport

Lucknow, August 15 (TNA) Gold worth Rs 99 lakhs was caught from a passenger at the Lucknow airport on Monday, an official said. This passenger had reached Lucknow from Dubai by flight number IX-194. This gold was recovered during checking at the airport.

Gold worth Rs 98.74 lakh being smuggled from Dubai was caught by Customs at Amausi airport. The gold was being smuggled in the form of a metal horse artefact. The passenger is being interrogated and has been taken into custody.

According to custom officials, the passengers who disembarked from the Air India Express flight (IX-194), which arrived at Amausi Airport in Lucknow at around 2:30 pm on Monday from Dubai, were being screened.

During this routine process, a passenger looked suspicious. Customs officers separated him and searched him, after which 1.63 kg gold was recovered from him. This gold was hidden in the artwork of a metal horse and the traveler was bringing it along with his luggage.

When the passenger was questioned about this, he could not show any documents related to the gold. Earlier in June last, five smugglers were caught from two flights that reached Lucknow from Dubai, who were smuggling about five kg of gold worth Rs 2.50 crore.
