Lucknow, December 23 (TNA) Alerted by the recent surge in cases of Covid in some states, the Uttar Pradesh government has sounded and alert across the state and has stepped up vigilance. On Friday, the government issued new guidelines to all government and private hospitals as well as CMOs regarding the new variant of Covid JN-1.

Under this, patients coming with complaints of influenza like symptoms, cough, fever and respiratory diseases will be tested for Covid. If found positive, the sample will be sent to KGMU for genome sequencing.

CMO Dr Manoj Aggarwal said that in cases of Influenza Like Illness (ILI) i.e. patients with influenza-like symptoms and Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SAI) i.e. severe type of respiratory tract infection, RTPCR test is to be now compulsorily done.

On the eve of Christmas and New Year, crowds of people will gather in hotels, restaurants and malls. There is a possibility of spread of infection due to this. In view of this, Covid protocol will be followed. Emphasis is being laid on wearing masks, so that the spread of Covid can be stopped.

Private hospitals will also have to follow the guidelines

Health department officials say that private hospitals have also been instructed to follow the new guidelines of COVID-19. Private hospitals have been asked to keep patients coming with complaints of cough, fever and respiratory diseases in isolation, get them tested for Covid and that Covid protocol should be followed completely till the report comes.
