Hardened Criminal Duo Killed In Encounter With Jaunpur Police

Jaunpur, August 10 (TNA) Two hardened criminals were shot dead by the Jaunpur Police on Tuesday after a fierce gun battle in Singramau area. They had several cases of murder, robbery and extortion against their names, an official informed The News Agency.

During routine patrolling, police received information that two suspects were going somewhere. The nearby police stations and SOGs were alerted on this information and when the two were intercepted, they opened fire on the police teams.

A bullet hit a sub-inspector but he had a providential escape as he was wearing a bullet proof vest.

With the police teams under heavy fore, they retaliated and the two were killed in the encounter, an official further informed.

Superintendent of Police Ajay Sawhney said that the names of both the culprits had figured in an attempted robbery only yesterday. One of them had shot the cash van guard during the robbery who later died at a hospital.
