Head Constable ‘Works’ As Inspector For Four Years In Kanpur, Draws Salary, Probe On Now
Kanpur, February 11 (TNA) A bizarre case of the Uttar Pradesh Police has come to light in Kanpur. A big fraud was perpetrated by a man was a constable but worked in the state police as an inspector, what even stranger is that he also worked on 150 cases.
The ‘Head Constable’ Dayashankar Verma was also drawing a salary of an Inspector for the last four years.
Orai resident Dayashankar Verma is a 1981 batch constable. Some time ago he was posted in the Nazirabad police station of the commissionerate. Presently posted in Police Lines. Presently his post is HCP (Head Constable Promoter), but, in departmental records, he is a Inspector since 2018.
According to sources, Dayashankar was posted at Ghatampur police station in March-April 2018. At the same time, in some case, he had given an application to the higher authority. In it, he had written his post, Inspector. After this, many further documents were prepared on the basis of the same document.
During this, when the transfer of the inspectors took place, the name of Dayashankar was also included in it. From here he was sent to Chaubepur police station. After this the police stations kept changing and he remained the inspector. He also became the in-charge of several posts.
In 2017, when Dayashankar was posted in Barra police station, he was jailed for bribery. The case is still going on. Two months ago, he had announced to hold a press conference in this regard. After this, the then police commissioner Aseem Arun suspended him. He was however restored after 10 days
