Health Scare In Kanpur, 25 New Zika Virus Cases Found In Last 24-Hours

Kanpur, Nov 3 (TNA) In a new health scare for people in Kanpur, as many as 25 fresh cases of the deadly Zika virus have been discovered in the city’s Chakeri area. While it all started with one single case when an Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel was found infected, it seems to have now intensified.

A state of ‘high alert’ has been declared in Chakeri area. Earlier, Zika patients were found in Pokharpur, Adarshnagar, Shyamnagar, Kalibari, Ompurwa, Lalkurti, Kajikheda and Poonam Talkies areas of Chakeri. CMO Dr Naipal Singh said that now the total number of infected people in the city has increased to 36.

The first patient was found on 23 October, followed by three more patients on October 30 and on October 31, six more patients were found and now 25 patients were found on November 3.

For the first time in the year 1952, it was found in a langur monkey in the forest of Africa. In the year 1954 it was declared a virus. Cases were found in Asia in the year 2007 and in Kerala and Maharashtra in the year 2021. Symptoms of the disease do not emerge in 60 percent of the infected.
