High Court Dismisses Petitions Challenging Recruitment Process Of Assistant Professors At Allahabad University

Praygraj, May 22 (TNA) The Allahabad High Court (HC) has not granted any relief to petitioners who had challenged the recuritment process of Assistant Professor in the Allahabad University. In this case, the varsity had sought applications in September-2018 for direct recruitment of Assistant Professors in various departments. Many guest faculty of the university and teachers appointed on contract challenged the direct recruitment on various grounds.

The High Court dismissed all the petitions, considering the recruitment procedures to be correct. The court said that the recruitment process is as per the 2018 guidelines of the University Grants Commission. It cannot be interfered with. Justice Siddhartha gave this order while dismissing five separate petitions filed in the case including Gitanjali Pandey.

In this case, Allahabad University had sought applications in September-2018 for direct recruitment of Assistant Professors in various departments. Many guests appointed in the university and teachers appointed on contract have challenged the direct recruitment on various grounds.

The petitioners argued that the selection process is being completed in violation of the rules laid down by the University Grants Commission. They argued that the teaching work done as guest lecturer, contract and ad hoc or otherwise should have been awarded marks by the Screening Committee on the basis of experience of the service, which is not being done.
