In Big Relief To Entertainment Industry, UP Exempts License Fees On Film Halls, Multiplexes During Lockdown Period

LUCKNOW || Ravaged big time by the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, the entertainment industry in Uttar Pradesh, a big relief has come its way from the state government.

On instructions of chief minister Yogi Adityanath, the state government has waived of all the licensing fees applicable on cinema halls and multiplexes in the state between the period of April 1, 2020 to September 30, 2020.

According to officials there would be no licensing fees on the cinema halls, single screen theatres and multiplexes during the lockdown period when the government of India had stopped all activities due to COVID-19. Exemption has been granted to these entertainment entities under section 10 of the Cinemas (Regulation) Act, 1955.

Permission has been granted to re-operate the film theatres based on the SOP's set by the union home minister from Thursday.

Chairman of the UP Film Development Council (UPFDC), Raju Srivastava has welcomed the decision of Uttar Pradesh government and said that in distressing times of COVID-19, people associated with the entertainment industry will immensely benefit from the waiver.
