Lucknow, August 26 (TNA) Reviewing the progress of the Safe City project, the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday said that CCTVs should be compulsorily installed in commercial establishments, intersections, round abouts, government and private hospitals, educational institutions.

The importance of CCTV should be told to the general public, businessmen, institution operators and motivate them to install CCTV cameras, Yogi underlined.

Yogi Adityanath also called for public cooperation in the success of the 'Safe City Project'. The Chief Minister said that people can keep the data of their CCTV footage safe with themselves as per their convenience, but it should be ensured that the footage is made available only to the police when required.

Apart from this, wherever required, CCTVs will be installed by Municipal Corporation, Smart City Project or local administration and police. The Chief Minister has also given instructions to equip all police stations with CCTVs within the next one week.

In the review meeting, the Chief Minister said that the "Safe City Project" is proving very useful in fulfilling the resolve to ensure women's safety, respect and self-reliance. Through this project in the state, under the Lucknow Police Commissionerate, modern control rooms, pink police booths, Asha Jyoti Kendras, CCTV cameras, help desks for counselors in women's police stations, panic buttons in buses and other security measures were implemented.
