Inter-state Gang Of Thieves Who Stole Diesel From Railway Locomotives Busted In Gorakhpur, Eight Arrested

Gorakhpur, Nov 8 (TNA) The Railway Police Force (RPF) has busted an inter-state gang stealing diesel from standing railway locomotives. Eight operatives of the gang have been arrested, while three absconding accused are being sought, an official said on Monday.

One thousand litres of stolen diesel has been recovered. Apart from UP, the accused have confessed to theft of diesel from railway locomotives in many states including Bihar, Karnataka.

According to the information, one thousand liters of diesel was stolen from railway locomotives parked at Bindora railway station between Lucknow-Gonda section on October 28 in Lucknow Division of North Eastern Railway.

Its price was said to be Rs 95,800. IG, RPF Gorakhpur Atul Kumar Srivastava and Senior Divisional Security Commissioner Lucknow Amit Prakash Mishra constituted a team to investigate the matter.

The team started investigation under the leadership of Budhwal RPF Inspector Alok Kataria and Inspector Crime Branch RPF Lucknow Amit Kumar Rai. In the same process, the team arrested eight accused of diesel theft and its purchase and sale on Saturday.

Public relations officer of Lucknow division said that the operatives of the arrested gang have told that they have been stealing diesel from railway locomotives in the states like Bihar, UP and Karnataka etc.
