International Women's Day Celebrated At CSIR-CIMAP

Lucknow, March 13 (TNA) An International Women's Day event was organized by CSIR-Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants. The program was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by chief guest Dr. Amita Pandey, and guest of honor Dr. Ritu Trivedi, Dr. Prabodh Kumar Trivedi, Director CSIR-CIMAP.

The chief guest of the program was Dr. Amita Pandey, Professor, Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics, King George's Medical University and the special guest was Dr. Ritu Trivedi, Fellow National Academy of Sciences and Senior Principal Scientist, CSIR-Central Institute of Pharmaceutical Research. The guests were honored by the Director CIMAP by giving them a bouquet and thanked them for their presence in the International Women's Day celebrations.

The special guest said in her address that women have to face many obstacles in proving and establishing themselves. In its solution, she told that women should know their own importance. They have the right to choose and have choices, the right to access opportunities and resources, the right to have the power to control their own lives both inside and outside the home, the right to create more equitable social and economic systems nationally and internationally, and must have the ability to influence the direction of social change etc.

The chief guest while addressing the function said that in trying to balance between work and family, women often neglect their own health. Further, she discusses women's health issues such as menstruation, infertility, pelvic infections, mental health, and cancer in women. Women need to pay more attention to their health, for that Dr. Pandey gave some tips like loving themselves, reading books, having a mentor in life, and being contemporary. The program was concluded by the vote of thanks by Principal Scientist Dr. Pooja Khare.
