IPS In Suspension For Thirty Months Now, Immediate Reinstatement Sought
Lucknow, July 25 (TNA) Former UP cadre Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Amitabh Thakur and his social activist Dr Nutan Thakur have sought reinstatement of IPS officer Jasveer Singh.
In their letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, they said that Jasveer Singh was suspended on February 14, 2019 on "flimsy charges of giving an interview to a website and remains suspended till date."
They said that IPS officers can be kept under suspension for maximum period of one year in cases other than that of corruption, while in cases of corruption they can be kept under suspension for maximum 2 years.
Amitabh and Nutan said that the allegations against Jasveer Singh are not related with corruption in any way, nor is there any possibility of his tampering with the evidences. He is also being given full salary as per rules.
The dup has alleged that as SP Maharajganj in 2002, Jasveer Singh had initiated NSA against the incumbent UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath and had not buckled despite all pressure. He has been suspended and remains in suspension only because of that, they pointed out. "We are seeking an immediate end of his punishment" the couple said.
