Judicial Commission Probing The Infamous Bikru Case Indicts Eight Policemen
Lucknow, Sep 2 (TNA) The Judicial Commission set up by the Uttar Pradesh government to probe the infamous Bikru case of Kanpur has indicted eight policemen, including the then SSP Anant Dev.
In the past, the SIT has also convicted these gazetted officers on charges of complicity, negligence with the accused Vikas Dubey. A judicial commission was formed to investigate the Bikru incident.
The commission has convicted DIG Anant Dev, former SP Rural Pradyumbhan Singh, then CO Cantt RK Chaturvedi, then CO LIU Sukshma Prakash, who were posted in the city at the time this hardened criminal had a free run.
Departmental action is going on against all these gazetted officers. On the other hand, the then SSP Dinesh Kumar P, the then SP Rural Brijesh Kumar Srivastava, former CO Bilhaur Nandlal and passport nodal officer Amit Kumar were found guilty and were handed out minor punishment. Disciplinary action has been directed against all of them.
On the basis of the report of the SIT, a warning has been sent to the police officers found guilty under minor punishment. Now it remains to be seen whether action will be taken on the report of the commission. Because the then SSP Dinesh Kumar P and the then SP Rural Brijesh Kumar Srivastava have recently been given fresh postings just two days back.
The process has been started to confiscate the property of 34 accused in the Bikru case, on whom the police had acted under the Gangster Act.
