Kanpur Divisional Commissioner Raps Officials For Decline In Mining Revenue

Kanpur, Nov 26 (TNA) Divisional commissioner Raj Shekhar on Thursday rapped officials for the "decline in the revenue collection in mining" since the past four years. The Mining inspector didn’t do any surprise check and regular field inspections of the mining permitted areas, the Commissioner observed and issued a “written warning” to the district mining officer.

Commissioner also asked DM to get the four new proposal of mining lease to be executed in next 2 to 3 months so that the revenue is recovered and to also use several crores of funds lying idle in the District Mining Fund (DMF) for appropriate works in next 4 months.

He made these observations after he inspected the Kanpur Collectorate and reviewed the condition there. Accompanied by the DM, Additional Commissioner, ADM City, ADM Finance, ADC CS, ADM LA, all SDMs and ACMs of Kanpur Nagar, the commissioner inspected the record room, combined office, arms section, mines section.

Later Raj Shekhar informed that he found the IGRS performance of the district "good" and he directed the district magistrate to ensure that one copy of the disposal details is sent to the applicant if the grievances is given by hand to the DM or submitted in Collectorate.

He pointed out that the arms section needed to "do a lot of home work in terms of updation of records, field verification of the same and appropriate follow up action". He gave a timeline of three months to update each and every License details on the website & then to verify the same on the ground.

He also expressed both surprise and displeasure that the weeding out of the records has not been done in the collectorate since last 40 Years (since 1980). Many unwanted and not required files and documents are piling up hence in the Collectorate Record rooms since decades, he pointed out.

ADM LA (incharge of Records room) assured Commissioner to complete the pending works in next 4 months .

Commissioner asked DM to ensure that the weeding out of records to be completed in next 4 months as per the Guidelines and orders of the Board of Revenue.
