Lekhpal’s In Lucknow End Five-Day Strike, To Resume Work Today
Lucknow, October 19 (TNA) The strike by Lekhpal’s going on for the past five days in the state capital has been called off and they are likely to resume duties from today. The strike had cripple government work related to land in the state and more than 30,000 matters of land, residence and caste certificate.
The Lekhpal’s had struck work after a violent scuffle with lawyers in Mohanlalganj tehsil. The revenue officers had demanded that the SDM and Tehsildar Mohanlalganj be removed from their present postings and that the accused lawyers be arrested.
While initially the district administration did not pay heed to the demands but with rising problems to people in getting their documensts and necessary certificates, the administration initiated a dialogue with the striking lekhpal’s.
On Wednesday night, ADM (Admin) held talks and assured the striking group that the demands will be met, after which the strike was called off. Work will resume today, an official said.
