Liquor Worth Rs Two Crore Recovered In Sonbhadra, Was Being Smuggled From Delhi To Jharkhand
Sonbhadra, June 5 (TNA) A police team seized illegal liquor worth about two crore rupees while acting on a specific lead, an official informed. This liquor loaded on three DCM trucks was being smuggled from Delhi to Jharkhand. Police have also arrested three inter-state smugglers and are interrogating them.
SP, Yashveer Singh said that a police team was formed under the direction of ASP, CO City Rahul Pandey and CO Duddhi Daddan Prasad to stop illegal liquor smuggling. The SOG and surveillance cell involved in the team laid siege on Saturday night on the basis of an informer's tip off.
With the help of Babhni police, two DCM trucks of Punjab and Haryana numbers were stopped near Nadhira turn and during the search, a total of 10845 liters of illegal English liquor was found in 1205 boxes on both. The drivers of both the vehicles were arrested by the police.
During interrogation, they were identified as Raghuveer Singh, resident of Long Muktsar police station area of Bathinda district and Balram Singh, resident of Karnal, Haryana. Both told the cops that they had loaded liquor from Delhi. A person named Baba and Sonu had asked to take this liquor to Jharkhand.
Police arrested the driver, Vivek Mehta, a resident of Theog in Shimla district of Himachal Pradesh. During interrogation, through a person named Vikrant Sharma, he gave information about loading liquor from Amour in Punjab and giving DCM truck and taking it to Jharkhand.
The SP said that all the three drivers have been arrested after registering a case under relevant sections. Based on the information received from them, search is on for Baba, Sonu, Vikrant and others involved in this business. The total value of recovered liquor including the vehicle is about two crore rupees.
