Lucknow, August 14 (TNA) On a day when city mayor Sanyukta Bhatia was busy "personally monitoring" water quality in the Khadra area of the state capital, people in Narahi, a few hundred metres away from the residence of UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath, are crying for help as the tap water coming in their homes through government water supply is not fit for consumption.

The water is not only dirty but is also full of worms and foul smell, says Dr Nidhi Sharma, a school, teacher. Resident of Saket Palli in Narahi, near the zoo, she says its a harrowing time for her and the family as the water is not at all fit for drinking or even bathing.

Stomach aches, nausea and loose motions along with vomiting are common problems people are facing in many areas of the state capital, due to contaminated water. Monsoons have made things worse for the citizens.

She further says that the local corporator Nagendra Chauhan is not responding to their pleas and dirty water continues to flow down their taps. Another resident of the locality says many in his family have fallen ill in the past few days due to the water.

Only a few days back, water consumed by locals in Baloo Aada locality made them sick and some had to be admitted to medical facility.

Nagendra Chauhan, when contacted by The News Agency informed that work was already underway on laying of a new pipeline and that there were some problems as some people in the area were not ready to get a new connection installed.

When informed of certain houses which were facing these problems, he said after the laying of a 250-300 metre new pipeline, the old pipeline will be shut down by tomorrow and the problem will stop forever.
