Mainpuri Sainik School Renamed After General Bipin Rawat

Lucknow, January 6 (TNA) The Uttar Pradesh government has renamed the Mainpuri Sainik School after late General Bipin Rawat, the first Chief of Defense Staff of India. A decision to this effect was taken by chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday.

Rawat was killed in a chopper crash in December while going to Wellington in Tamil Nadu. A dozen other, including his wife Madhulika Rawat were also on board the ill-fated IAF chopper and all were killed in the mishap.

The Mainpuri Sainik school will now be known as “General Bipin Rawat Sainik School”, a spokesman of the state government informed.
