MBBS Studies In UP To Be In Hindi Also, Instructions Issued

Lucknow, November 5 (TNA) MBBS studies will soon start in Hindi in medical colleges of the state though technical words will continue to remain in English only. In Uttar Pradesh, studies were started last year at LLRM Medical College, Meerut. Books related to MBBS first year course have been prepared in Hindi by the college.

In this session, MBBS studies will be conducted in Hindi in all the medical colleges and medical institutions of the state. For this, the Director General of Medical Education and Training has sent a letter to the Principals of all the colleges, Directors of the institutions and Vice Chancellor of KGMU.

Preparations had started from last year itself to start MBBS studies in Hindi. It has been implemented in Madhya Pradesh. In Uttar Pradesh, studies were started last year at LLRM Medical College, Meerut. Books related to MBBS first year course have been prepared by the college in Hindi. Similarly, other colleges have also prepared different books in Hindi.

Now instructions have been given to implement it completely in the new session this year. Director General of Medical Education and Training, Kinjal Singh, has sent a letter to all medical colleges, institutes and KGMU, directing them to start courses in Hindi. It has been said in the letter sent that on September 31, instructions have been given by the government to start studies in Hindi in medical colleges.

Anatomy, Physiology and Bio-Chemistry are taught to first year MBBS students. Books on these subjects are available in Hindi. Principal of LLRM Medical College, Prof. RC Gupta said that the technical terminology in the Hindi book has been kept in English only. It has also been explained in Hindi. In such a situation, it will be easier for students to understand.

Satosh Kumar, General Secretary of Teachers Association of KGMU, says that this will help the students taking admission in MBBS after studying in Hindi medium. Now there are sufficient number of books in Hindi. More than 60 percent of the material is in Hindi to explain it to the students. Before starting MBBS first year studies, students are taught English. If books are available in Hindi then they will learn better.
