Modi Announces Ex-Gratia For Victims Of Kasganj Mishap, Death Toll Climbs To 24

Lucknow, February 25 (TNA) Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condoled the loss of lives in the tragedy at Kasganj in Uttar Pradesh and has announced ex-gratia for the victims of the Kasganj accident. An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased and the injured would be given Rs. 50,000. The Prime Minister’s Office posted on X: "An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased in the mishap in Kasganj. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000”.

The death toll in the tragedy has meanwhile gone up to 24 as more and more bodies were fished out of the pond in which the speeding tractor plunged in on Saturday. an uncontrolled tractor trolley fell into the pond on Patiali Dariyavganj road in Kasganj at around 10 am on Saturday. Seven children and eight female devotees travelling in the trolley have died. There was chaos and screaming at the spot after which nearby villagers and policemen were engaged in relief and rescue operations.

President Droupadi Murmu, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and Bahujan Samaj Party supremo Mayawati were among the political leaders who have condoled the tragedy.
