New Sports Complex To Come Up At Palika Stadium In Kanpur
Kanpur, December 11 (TNA) A new sports complex will be built at the palika stadium in Kanpur, officials said on Friday. The project has been taken up by the SMART City Limited.
The New Facility will have features like a new basket ball court, new badminton courts, swimming pool, gym, sport items shops, a cafeteria, a banquet hall, parking area and an administrative office area.
"Regular sports activities are important for ensuring a healthy society. The Local Administration must ensure that the good facilities for sports activities are made available to the public at all appropriate places" divisional commissioner Raj Shekhar, who visited the stadium on Friday, said.
The project will be taken up under Smart city Action plan for 202 and he Sports Complex will be built on EPC Mode (Engineer, Procurement & Construction).
The EOI (Expression of interest) will be floated in next few days and the first presentation will done by the Interested parties in mid-January 2021.
In addition to above, Commissioner has directed Nagar Ayukt to repair the boundary wall, cricket viewers gallery, public toilets, entry gate etc under the project.
Raj Shekhar also asked the Nagar Ayukt to ensure that this projects becomes “Financially Self Sustainable” so that the running & maintenance of the new sports complex doesn’t become burden on the Smart City Limited or Nagar Nigam in coming days.
To make it Financially viable, the Banquet Hall and sports Shops, Parking Area needs to be developed, it was suggested. The Commissioner also advised Nagar Ayukt to create additional space so that the existing 4 metres road can be widened to 14 metres in coming days to facilitate easy moments of traffic in the area.
