Nine Kg Of Gold Seized At Lucknow Airport, Four Including Custom Constable Arrested
Lucknow, Sep 7 (TNA) The Lucknow unit of DRI on Tuesday arrested 4 persons, including a custom constable after recovering 9 kg of gold from Riyadh. According to DRI officials, an intelligence input was received that two passengers from Riyadh are about to arrive at Lucknow's Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport who are involved in smuggling of gold and this gold will be taken to Muzaffarnagar.
The DRI team, chased them from the airport, intercepted the two speeding vehicles on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway. Apart from the passengers in these trains, a receiver of gold was also found. The gold was hidden by making a pocket in the underwear. A total of 77 gold biscuits were recovered, whose weight turned out to be 9 kg.
After interrogating the three arrested people, the main handler of this gang, a customs constable posted at Lucknow airport was arrested, who used to help in extracting smuggled gold from the airport.
