One Dead, Six Injured As Two Dilapidated Houses Collapse Near Kashi Vishwanath Temple In Varanasi
Varanasi, August 6 (TNA) One woman died and six others were injured when two houses near the Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi collapsed early on Tuesday morning. The injured have been admitted to the BHU Trauma Center where their condition is said to be out of danger.
An official said these two houses collapsed around 3:25 am in the yellow zone of Shri Kashi Vishwanath Vishisht Parikshetra, in which five injured people have been rescued and sent to the hospital.
The accident took place at Khoa Gali intersection of Chowk police station area, where 70-year-old houses suddenly collapsed. It is being told that eight people were buried under the debris of these houses of Rajesh Gupta and Manish Gupta located above the famous Jawahar Saav Kachori Wale
The local police and NDRF team immediately reached the spot and started the rescue operation. Many people have been pulled out of the debris and sent to the hospital, including a seriously injured woman cop, who has been admitted to the divisional hospital located at Kabirchaura.
Gate number 4 leading to the temple has been closed, while entry is being given from gate number 1 and 2. The officials at the site of the incident have also prevented the media from entering the street for coverage for security reasons. The rescue operation is still going on. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is also the Lok Sabha MP from Varanasi spoke to divisional commissioner Kaushal Raj Sharma and enquired about the whole incident and the rescue, relief operations.
