Lucknow, December 17 (TNA) The Uttar Pradesh government has come under heavy opposition fire over the statement of the health minister Jai Pratap Singh that not a single person in the state died due to shortage of Oxygen during the Covid pandemic. Singh made this statement in the upper House of the state Assembly on Thursday.

Responding to a question raised by Congress MLC Deepak Singh, the minister apprised the House and the lawmakers that there were in all 22,915 deaths due to corona in the state, but not a single death has been reported due to lack of oxygen.

SP legislator Udayveer Singh said this was a blatant lie as the government itself had acted on oxygen paucity issue against a Paras hospital in Agra.

Congress Legislature Party leader in the Vidhan Sabha, Aradhana Misra ‘Mona’ has also contested the claim by the health minister and said that this was however just reflective of the denial and lies that the BJP government lives in.

“The UP Government continues to lie blatantly. The statement of the state’s health minister Jai Pratap Singh in the upper House of the State Assembly that not a single person in the state died due to shortage of Oxygen during the Covid pandemic is yet another example” she mused.
