People Consuming Liquor In Open Beware, Lucknow Police Releases Number To File Complaints

Lucknow, Nov 8, 2020 || Flooded with complaints of people consuming liquor on roadsides, near wine shops, the Lucknow Police has rolled out a drive to identify and punish such offenders, an official said on Sunday. The Police has urged people to dial 9454401508 and let the cops know about the place where such an act was taking place.

An officer manning the phone number told The News Agency that registers are being maintained to ensure that no one gets away after flouting law.

The two-month-long drive has been ordered by commissioner Sujit Pandey and will be jointly done by the Lucknow Police and the Excise department. DCP Head Quarter, Swapnil Mamgain has been asked with monitoring the drive.

People whom TNA spoke to laudned the Lucknow cops for undertaking such a drive as drinking in open, they said, was becoming such a big menace. Shruti Sinha,a. student living in Narahi locality said it "was much needed" as they "felt unsafe while commuting as people drank on roadsides and liquor vends".
