People Protest Against Water Shortage In Etah Village, Police Threatens Them With FIR
Etah, June 3 (TNA) Strange are the ways of those in power. In the Jalesar area of Etah district, when people of a village came to the streets and block a road to draw attention of the district officials over their long-pending demand of water shortage, they were threatened by the police of arrest and an FIR against them.
Locals informed that a pipeline and 26 overhead tanks of 10,000 litres each had been made at the behest of the local legislator. They also said that they have turned out to be white elephants and were non-functional. The villagers allege that they have been running from pillar to post but their petitions were not paid heed to.
As a result of this the hassled public of the Sakrauli panchayat of the district blocked the Jalesar-Firozabad road, to highlight their plight. When traffic was held up, the police arrived the scene of the sit-in and threatened the people of punitive action.
However when the tiff threatened to spin out of control, the Nayab Tehsildar of Jalesar reached the scene and pacified the irate crowd and assured them that their problem will be sorted out soon.
