Police Constable On Night Duty Killed By Unidentified, Bike-Borne Miscreants In Jalaun

Jalaun, May 10 (TNA) In a late Tuesday night incident, a police constable on duty was shot dead by bike-borne miscreants. The incident created a stir in the area. Constable Bhedjit Singh was doing duty at the police post located on the highway of Orai Kotwali, when a bike appeared suspicious at around 1.30 am.

Fearing that they could be some antisocial or criminal element, he lit the torch to see their faces. As he did so, the miscreants opened fire on the unsuspecting cop. While he ducked the bullet he chased the miscreants on the bike. During this, the miscreants fired indiscriminately and killed the constable.

The incident took place near Govindam Dhaba located on National Highway of Orai Kotwali area. As soon as the information was received, SP Dr. Eraj Raja along with the force and forensic team reached the spot. The police is scanning the CCTV installed around the spot.

The deceased constable Bhedjit Singh was a resident of Chaurambar village in Mathura who was earlier with the Indian Army. After retiring in 2019, he applied to the UP Police Serviceand was assimilated in the force in 2021. The first posting of the constable was in Orai Kotwali. The deceased constable's wife and children live in Chandigarh, while the parents live in their native village. Police has informed the family about the tragedy.

Police has since cordoned off the area and sealed all entry and exit points and a manhunt has been launched to nab the culprits.
