Police Detains SP Delegation Which Had Gone To Meet Jailed Student Leaders In Naini Prison
Prayagraj, July 27 (TNA) The city police on Thursday detained delegation of Samajwadi Party (SP) leaders who had gone to the Naini Central Jail to meet some of the student leaders who were arrested and put there. Student leaders of Allahabad University, Ajay Samrat and Jitendra Dhanraj were arrested by the police and sent to jail from the place of continuous hunger strike which has been going on for 1090 days fordemanding roll back of increased fees in Allahabad University and restoration of student union.
The student leaders are facing various charges including staging a sit-in on the campus without permission. The SP delegation, which had come to meet the jailed student leaders of Allahabad University, was stopped by the police and administration at the jail gate and was not allowed to meet them. There was a heated argument and a minor scuffle between the police administration and SP leaders.
Angry SP leaders staged a dharna at the jail gate itself. after which reinforcements were called and all were detained and forcibly removed from the prison gate. State President of Samajwadi Party Naresh Uttam has sent a delegation of party leaders to Naini Central Jail to meet the student leader on the instructions of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav.
Pratapgarh's SP MLA Dr. RK Patel, Handia MLA Hakim Lal Bind, Meja MLA Sandeep Patel, MLC Dr. Man Singh Yadav, former president of Allahabad University Students' Union Hemant Singh Tunnu, SP spokesperson Manoj Kaka, national general secretary of SP Yuvjan Sabha Uday Prakash Yadav and student leader Adil Hamza were part of the delegation.
