Police Raids At Atique Ahmed’s In-Shambles Office, Lakhs Of Cash And Illegal Weapons Recovered
Prayagraj, March 21 (TNA) The local police on Tuesday claimed to have stumbled upon a large amount of cash and illegal weapons at the Chakia office of former MP and don Atique Ahmad who is currently lodged at the Sabarmati Jail in Gujarat.
Live cartridges and magazines were also recovered during the search operation conducted by the Police. Police Commissioner Ramit Sharma was also present with the team and it is said that 10 pistols and cash worth several lakhs of rupees has been found. A note counting machine has also been recovered.
The police raids at Atiq's office comes 26 days after the shootout that killed Umesh Pal and two of his police gunners. The police have also taken two of Atiq's close friends into custody. This office was demolished two years back but it appears that close aides of the don were operating from this in-shambles office.
According to Police Commissioner Ramit Sharma 5 people have been arrested by the police and interrogation is underway. A total amount of Rs 74.62 lakh and six mobile phones have been also recovered. Five pistols and 5 other articles, one magazine and 112 cartridges have also been found.
