Prayagraj Police Forms SIT To Probe Killing Of Don Brothers Atique And Ashraf Ahmed

Prayagraj, April 17 (TNA) A special investigation team (SIT) has been formed by the Prayagar police commissioner to look into all aspects of the killings of gangster-turned-politician Atique Ahmed and his younger brother Ashraf when they were in police remand and were shot from point blank range outside a city hospital on Saturday last week.

Orders for this SIT were issued by the Prayagraj Police Commissioner Ramit Sharma on Monday. The three-member SIT will look into all angles, including police and intelligence lapses if any in the double murder that jolted the entire state. The don brothers were in police custody when three assailants shot them.

The Uttar Pradesh government, on instructions of chief minister Yogi Adityanath, has already constituted a judicial commission comprising of three members to investigate the high-profile killings.
