Rakesh Tikait Takes Dig At Owaisi, Says 'Chacha Jaan' In UP Elections To Help BJP!
Shahjahanpur, Sep 19 (TNA) Farmer leader and the national spokesman of the Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), Rakesh Tikait has taken a dig at AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi for planning to contest on 100 seats or more in the UP assembly elections slated for early next year.
"BJP's uncle-Chacha Jaan, has come to their rescue" he said in an apparent reference to a wide belief that AIMIM would eat into Muslim votes and thus pave way for the electoral success of the ruling BJP.
He also announced that the farmers would be holding a nationwide bandh against the three farm laws promulgated by the union government, on September 27.
Talking to reporters in Shahjahanpur, where he had come to attend a private function on Saturday, Tikait appealed to the people to support the nationwide lockdown. Though he added that the agitation of farmers will continue he also said that, as always doors for talks with the Modi government were always open.
He however accused the Modi government of being arrogant and indifferent to the pain and toil of farmers. Mandi's he pointed out were being sold and that interests of farmers were being mortgaged and compromised by the Narendra Modi-led NDA government at the centre.
