Rs 25 Lakh Seized From Duo By GRP At Mirzapur Railway Station, Were On Way To Kolkata To Buy Silver

Mirzapur, April 15 (TNA) Two men were caught at the Mirzapur railway station with a huge cash of Rs 29 lakh by the GRP, an official said on Saturday. They told the cops that they were going to buy silver. They were arrested between platform number 2-3. GRP has informed the Income Tax Department for investigation after enquiry.

On Friday, the Income Tax Department team interrogated both the accused. Both the accused told the cops that they were going to Vardhaman, in Kolkata to buy silver. The Income Tax Department has given a notice to the bullion owner. Further action will be taken on receipt of warrant from Lucknow.

GRP station in-charge Anil Kumar Tripathi told mediapersons that a GRP team was patrolling at the railway station when they had some suspicion on the duo. When their bags were checked the huge cache of cash was recovered and seized.

During interrogation, it was found that both Rewa are residents of Madhya Pradesh and they work at KK Jewelers and that their owner Anirudh Soni had given them the cash for some purchase of silver.
