RS 3500-Crore, 700 MW Solar Plant To Be Set Up In Kanpur’s Ghatampur, MoU Inked
Kanpur, February 8 (TNA) Satluj Jal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (SJVNL), a Navratna company of the Central Government, is preparing to set up a solar power plant in Kanpur at a cost of Rs 3,500 crore. The company has also signed a memorandum of understanding with the Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority for this.
Three thousand acres of land has been sought around Ghatampur. This will generate 700 MW of pollution-free electricity, which will be available to industries at affordable rates.
Along with this, the company has sought about 3000 acres of land in Ghatampur or its surrounding area from the authority to set up the plant. The company will set up a solar plant of about 700 MW capacity on this land. With the establishment of this plant, around three hundred people will get employment opportunities.
At the same time, the environment will be benefited due to pollution-free electricity. SJVNL Additional General Manager Surendra Singh said that the company is setting up 75 MW plants each in Kalpi and Orai tehsils of Jalaun, in which the project set up in Parasan village of Kalpi has come into operation.
