In a letter to the poll panel, national secretary Rajendra Chowdhary has said that additional chief secretary (home) Avanish Kumar Awasthi, additional chief secretary Navneet Sehgal, ADG (law and Order) Prashant Kumar and ADG (STF) Amitabh Yash - all needed to be removed from their present posts to ensure free and fair elections.
The SP has accsued these officials of acting as workers of the ruling party and has sought their removal so that the elections cannot be influenced, are free, fair and without any fear.
While Awasthi is very close to the chief minister Yogi Adityanath, Sehgal was very close to predecessor chief ministers Mayawati and Akhilesh Yadav.
He was posted at insignificant posts in the first three years of the BJP government but came back to prominence when he was posted as the Information and PR department boss on October 2, 2020. He is credited with remarkable media management of all the three governments.
