SC Grants Brief Reprieve To Akbarnagar Residents, And Shopkeepers Against LDA’s Demolition Drive

Lucknow, February 1 (TNA) There will be a stay on the ongoing demolition and other proceedings regarding removal of illegal construction in Akbarnagar, Lucknow for the time being. The Supreme Court (SC) has given time till March 4 to the petitioners who approached the court against the demolition to vacate their shopping/residential complex.

After March 4, the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) will be able to take demolition action. However, before and after the action, LDA will take photographs of the place and make a list of the items found there so that the complex owner can take them back later.

The court said that the complex owners can apply to the LDA for alternative housing. During the hearing, the court was told that out of 24 complexes, 23 have already been demolished.
