Lucknow, January 29 (TNA) As schools in the state capital and many other places after an extended winter vacation due to inclement weather and extreme cold wave conditions, the weatherman has predicted moderate to heavy rains in the next few days. According to Atul Kumar Singh, senior meteorologist of the Zonal Meteorological Center, the phase of gradual increase in night temperatures however is likely to continue.

The mercury continues to fluctuate every day. Changing direction of winds, dense fog and excessive melting of snow are being felt during the day in many areas. Amidst the changed weather and activity of Western Disturbance, the Meteorological Department has predicted drizzling to start in Western Uttar Pradesh on January 30 and 31. On Sunday, the minimum temperature in many areas was more than 10 degrees, while in many areas it remained between 9 and 10 degrees.

At the Zonal Meteorological Centre, Lucknow, the minimum temperature was 11 degrees in Mathura Vrindavan, 10.2 degrees in Ghazipur and 10.1 degrees in Chitrakoot. Whereas in many areas including Agra, Bareilly, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Hardoi, and Varanasi it remained between 9 to 10.

However, the mercury remains below 7 degrees in Meerut, Aligarh, Bijnor, Fursatganj, Kanpur, and Ayodhya Dham. The maximum temperature was more than 26 degrees in Jhansi, 23 degrees in Prayagraj and 22 degrees in Varanasi. It remained between 11 to 13 degrees in Muzaffarnagar, Moradabad, Meerut, Lakhimpur Kheri and Bijnor. In the remaining areas, it reached 14 to 20 degrees.
