IPS Officer Deepak Ratan Passes Away After A Massive Heart Attack

Lucknow, May 15 (TNA) Tragedy struck the Uttar Pradesh cadre of the Indian Police Service (IPS) on Monday as a fine officer Deepak Ratan passed away after a massive cardiac arrest. He was a 1997 batch IPS officer and was currently posted as IG (Admin) North Sector of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).

He had served in many capacities in Uttar Pradesh, including a succesful stint as SSP Ghaziabad. His wife Kamini Ratan Chauhan is also a serving bureaucrat of the UP cadre. The IAS officer is currently posted as additional secretary with the Government of India.

He was 49 and had started his career in 1999 as an ASP with the DGP Headquarters, then ASP Faizabad and had also served as the ADC to the UP Governor between 2000-2001.

He was SP baghpat, Rae Bareli, Kheri, Ghaziabad district police chief, SSP Saharanpur, DIG Jhansi range, DIG ATS, IG Traffic, IG EoW, IG Varanasi, IG Aligarh before moving to New Delhi on deputation where he served till his untimely death.
