Seven Cops Including An Inspector Dismissed In Varanasi In Case Of Rs 1.40 Crores Robbery
Varanasi, June 11 (TNA) Taking a serious note of the recent loot of a Gujarati businessman on the night of May 29, when armed men who came in two vehicles robbed the office of a Gujarat-based firm in Varanasi. 1.40 crore rupees were looted, but the police of Bhelupur police station kept the matter under wraps.
Two days later, by showing recovery of Rs 92.94 lakh, an attempt was made to get a pat on the back. On Saturday, a major action was taken in this matter. Seven policemen, including an inspector, were dismissed after their culpability came to light in a Rs 1.40 crore robbery from the office of a Gujarat-based firm in Varanasi.
The police personnel acted upon include the then Bhelupur police station in-charge Inspector Ramakant Dubey, sub-inspectors Sushil Kumar, Mahesh Kumar and Utkarsh Chaturvedi and constables Mahendra Kumar Patel, Kapil Dev Pandey and Shivchandra.
The investigation progressed and after their involvement in the case came to light, all were dismissed from the police service. In this regard, Police Commissioner Mutha Ashok Jain said that seven police personnel have been dismissed in the case. The investigation of the registered case is going on. Legal action will be taken separately based on the facts revealed in the deliberations.
