Shajar Stone Of Banda Gets GI Tag, Set To Make Global Mark

Lucknow, June 28 (TNA) Shajar stone of Banda included included in one district one product (ODOP) has got the certificate of GI tag. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Minister Rakesh Sachan handed over the GI tag certificate to the team of Cane Handicraft Product Committee President Dwarka Soni and General Secretary Sankalp Shukla (Gaurav) in a program organized at Lok Bhavan.

Shajar stone of Banda has got GI tag under One District One Product scheme. On Tuesday, the Chief Minister handed over the certificate of GI tag to the team of Dwarka Soni, President of Cane Handcraft Product Committee and General Secretary Sankalp Shukla at Lok Bhawan, Lucknow. After getting the GI tag, Shajar stone will now get a new identity not only in the country but also in foreign countries.

The skill of artisans making jewelery and artefacts from Shajar stone will now get a new direction. Along with this, the artifacts made by the artisans will also get a reasonable price. The government will also provide loans at cheaper rates without any hindrance to do business.

Shajar stone was included for GI tag in 11 products of the state in the past. Dwarka Soni, who received the President's Award, has played an important role in bringing the Shajar stone of Bundelkhand to this point.
