Lucknow, April 16 (TNA) More than 12 hours after the shocking on-camera killings of gangster-turned-politician Atique Ahmed and his younger brother Ashraf outside a hospital in Prayagraj, the police is now in know of the background of the shooters behind the crime. While the trio who opened around 18 rounds of fire on the don brothers, surrendered to the police on the crime scene, the police has now laid hands on their criminal background.

While one of the shooter has been identified as Sunny Singh who hails from Hamirpur in Bundelkhand region. Sources say his parents died long back and he has two more brothers. He however has not visited his native home in Kurara village and that he is a history sheeter with 15 cases against his name.

The second shooter Arun Maurya aka Kalia is from Kasganj and his native village is Baghela Pukhta falling under the Soron police station. The third shooter has been identified as Lavlesh Tiwari from Kyotara area in Banda. He is said to have gone to his home 5-6 days back. He has also been jailed in the past in one incident. While reports quoting unnamed police officials said that the trio had told cops during initial interrogation that they had exceuted the murders to “make it big in the crime world”, it now seems that a deep conspiracy was hatched to eliminate Atique.

Reports suggest that the fires were shot from Turkiye-made Jigana pistol which costs a whopping Rs 6-7 lakh and is a banned weapon in India. It is often smuggled by inter-state gangs from across the border. It fires 10 rounds in one go through a sophisticated magazine. The chief minister of UP, Yogi Adityanath has already ordered a high-level probe into a matter and a judicial commission is also being constituted to investigate the crime.
