Six Killed As Dust Storm, Rains Hit Many Districts Of Uttar Pradesh
Lucknow, October 17 (TNA) At least six persons have been reportedly killed in the dust storm and the heavy rains that lashed many parts of Uttar Pradesh on Monday evening. As was predicted by the Weatherman, many districts of the state faced gusty winds and heavy downpour, accompanied by lightning. Some places also received squall.
According to information available, two persons were killed in Shahjahanpur and Badayub as a tree collapsed on them, while a farmer was struck by lightning in Bijnor. A woman died in Gonda after an electricity pole fell on her. Lightning struck two persons in Kairana, western UP. The state capital received heavy rains and was witness to winds at 60kmph.
Following this, more than 20 lakh people in the state capital faced unprecedented power outages for several hours as wires snapped and transformers conked off.
