Sixth Phase Of UP Assembly Polls Has Quarter Candidates With Tainted Past
Lucknow, February 25 (TNA) The ADR report released for the sixth phase of polling in Uttar Pradesh has revealed that though it has the least number of crorepati’s in fray, of the total candidates, one fourth have a tainted record. ADR convener Sanjay Singh said that 676 candidates are in the fray in the sixth phase, out of which the affidavits of 670 candidates have been analyzed. In this, 182 candidates have mentioned the cases registered against them.
The Election Watch Association for Democratic Reform has released an analysis of the affidavits of the candidates for the sixth phase. In this phase, where the number of crorepatis is less as compared to the rest of the phases, the number of candidates with tainted image is also one-fourth.
In this, maximum 40 out of 48 candidates of Samajwadi Party, 23 out of 52 of BJP, 22 out of 56 of Congress, 22 out of 57 candidates of BSP have criminal cases registered. The tainted candidates who are in the fray include the names of BSP candidate Sudhir Singh from Gorakhpur's Sahjanwa assembly seat, Subhaspa's candidate Ashok Chauhan from Khadda assembly seat in Kushinagar and Chandrashekhar, who is contesting from Gorakhpur's urban seat.
There are 8 candidates who have a case of atrocities registered against them. In this, a case of 376 has been registered on two. There are also eight such candidates who have told that they also have a murder case registered against them.
