SP Begins Romancing The Dalits, Constitutes Samajwadi Baba Saheb Vahini
Lucknow, Oct 17 (TNA) With an eye on the crucial Dalit vote bank, the Samajwadi Party (SP) has formed a new wing - Samajwadi Baba Saheb Vahini. Formation of such a wing in the run up to the state assembly polls early next year have left tongues wagging on how a desperate Akhilesh Yadav is trying to woo the Dalits, which have never been the SP votebank.
Mithai Lal Bharti, a veteran leader from BSP, has been made its national president. Bharti had left BSP and joined SP some time back. Mithai Lal Bharti, a resident of Ballia, has also been the zonal coordinator of Purvanchal of BSP. The SP President has asked Mithai Lal Bharti to form the National Executive of the Vahini soon.
Akhilesh Yadav had tweeted in April this year and said that by activating the thoughts of the founder of the Constitution, Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar, to remove inequality and injustice and to achieve the equitable goal of social justice, his birth anniversary would be celebrated in every district of the state.
He had also announced to celebrate Dalit Deepawali on April 14. In fact, sources say, the SP now wants to expand its presence among the Dalits apart from the backwards. Despite the alliance with the BSP in the Lok Sabha elections, Dalit votes did not go to the SP candidates as expected.
