Lucknow, January 19 (TNA) Samajwadi Party (SP) legislator from Hardoi Nitin Agarwal quit the party on Wednesday. In a brief letter sent to SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, the young leader said that he was resigning from the primary membership of the party with immediate effect. He is a legislator from Hardoi Sadar assembly constituency and was the deputy speaker of the outgoing state assembly.

Nitin Agarwal is the son of veteran politician Naresh Agarwal and was power minister in the Akhilesh Yadav-led SP government between 2012-17. He had virtually quit the party and had been singing praise of the BJP for some time now and hence the development was just a matter of time. His father is already with the BJP.
