SpiceJet Shuts Down Two Flights From Varanasi, GoFirst Has Already Cancelled Three
Varanasi, May 12 (TNA) Spice Jet's two flights from Varanasi to Delhi and Mumbai have been closed, an official said on Friday. This comes close to the heels of three GoFirst flights being shut down. Spice Jet had given details of the flight of three flights in the summer schedule released in March. Of these, two flights were to Delhi and one to Mumbai.
Now one flight each from Mumbai and Delhi has been stopped. With this, now only one flight to Delhi is operating. This is bound to increase the difficulties of the passengers as they will get less choice of further flights.
One may also have to now shell out more money for tickets according to the flexi rate. In such a situation, the journey to Delhi and Mumbai will become expensive. The flight to Delhi that has been closed was a 72-seater. The flight to Mumbai was carrying 142 passengers to and fro. The flights that have been closed were operating with full passenger capacity.
It is being said that the decision of the air carrier follows directives from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) which has not given permission to fly flights with the old engine. For this reason the airline decided to stop the flights.
